Remote working & it’s benefits

As covid 19 spread across the world, humans needed a new way of adapting to everyday life, and what doesn’t scream everyday more than work….. The term ‘remote working’ and ‘home office’ quickly became a topic of discussion for everyone. Working from home was either a blessing for people, or their worse nightmare.

Throughout this blog, I want to highlight my personal benefits of remote working and why I am hoping that this trend is one that should stick around.

1.Living the laptop life

I know I’m stating the obvious here but… who doesn’t love to be able to work where ever you want? Its easy when your job can be carried in a bag and be done from any corner of the globe you fancy! I don’t mean to brag but… I’m currently sitting on a beach of the coast of Croatia writing this blog post. However, I’m also aware that the remote working life does not suit everyones lifestyles or careers, but, if you think maybe you could do it then- why not? it’s worth a shot.

2. You save a lot of time, and money!

The commute time to work for some people can be the difference of having a good or a bad day. When you think about it in the bigger picture, spending 20% of your working day either getting to the office or getting home can be a big waste of time, especially if the option is there to work from the comfort of your home. Along with saving time, saving money is also a big benefit of the home/remote working life. I personally like to think of it as time saved and more money to spend on things I enjoy, such as travelling.

3.The growth of international connections

It may not be a priority for you, but, while you are travelling the four corners of the globe, you have the chance to connect and network with like minded people who come from different backgrounds. Having these connections behind you can be currency in trying to sell yourself to potential clients or job opportunity’s.

4. Spend your time how you want to spend it.

Having the flexibility to spend time with your friends and family is one of the goals most adults what to achieve in their grown up lives. Getting that work/life balance can be tough to achieve when you work a 9-5pm office job and spend an hour getting to and from work. With remote working it is easily achievable, not to mention your pets will also love the extra time you spend at home with them!

Now, remote working is not all fun and games. It requires a lot of will power to wake up some days when you know you just have to sit at the kitchen table or in your home office. In the long run, it has enough benefits that might make the switch to home office/remote working lifestyle appealing for you.

I would also love to hear how your experience is with working from home if you found yourself in this position during the pandemic.
