As a member of the Gen Z/Millenial Generation, I, like many of you, grew up in the age of YouTube. YouTube exploded in the late 2000s and has skyrocketed into a multi-million dollar company. YouTube is the original platform for many celebrities and social media stars today. This month, YouTube announced it will open a 6,000 seat theatre where it will host events. It is to be expected that many YouTube stars- past, present, and future- will perform on this stage. YouTube is a hub for makeup artists, vloggers, gaming experts, comedians, dancers - the list goes on- and one can only look forward to the abundance of talent that will be performed on this stage in the future.

Tik Tok, one of the most rapid-growing social media platforms, is currently testing longer video uploads. As of now, Tik Tok users can only upload videos between 15 seconds and 3 minutes long. As the platform continues to grow, so does its audience. Many content creators on the platform have to separate their videos into multiple parts, on their pages, in order to execute the content they want. Some accounts are now receiving notifications that they can upload videos up to 5 minutes long. This will allow the app to expand its presence, audience, and content distribution. I’m sure many content creators and vloggers will be thrilled to take advantage of this developing addition to the app.

Twitter has just opened up a new area of the platform called Ticketed Spaces. In Ticketed Spaces, creators are able to earn money for creating content. Options on Ticketed Spaces include hosting paid gatherings, holding virtual meet and greets, and having a secluded timeline for ticketed viewers. This is yet another way content creators are able to make money directly off of their social media platform!
