Three numbers you should track on social media

There are a lot of measurements out there to tell you how well you are performing on social media. The vast amount of measurements means it can be quite intimidating and people may be confused as to which are the most important to follow.

While social media metrics are essential to measuring success, there are simply too many out there. Trying to keep on top of analysing the many measures out there will only result in a lot of stress for no reason. So, in today’s blog, we are sharing three numbers or social media metrics we think you should track and focus on.

Why tracking social media metrics is important

As mentioned previously, social media metrics are important. They tell you whether or not your social media strategy is working. From their insights, you can identify where improvements should and can be made. What they also show you is how much money you are spending and the amount of effort you are putting in and how much you are getting in return.

Without these metrics, you couldn’t possibly gain an adequate understanding of what is happening with your business in the social world. Ultimately, social media metrics allow you to tie real business goals to your social media efforts. The problem is there are too many social media metrics to track, so you need to focus in on a few rather than the latter.

#1 Leads

In our opinion, leads are one of the most important metrics to track. It is vital to gain a good understanding as to how many leads you are getting through social media. You want to know how many enquiries and sales are coming through your social media platforms.

#2 Follower growth

We helped grow the Pods4U TikTok account organically to 11K followers.

The next social media metric we think you should be paying attention to is follower growth. Have a look at your social media accounts and determine whether they are growing. One of the easiest ways to identify this growth is to look at your follower count. Some would argue follower growth is not a necessary number to track because the followers could be from anywhere in the world. However, we still feel it is essential to know whether your following is going up or down. If it is going up, you can take it as a sign you are doing something right on social media.

#3 Click-through rates from social media to your website

The third metric we would urge you to pay attention to is the click-through rates from social media to your website. If you have this number, you have a good understanding of the number of people who have visited your website from your social media. You also comprehend how many people have then been converted into leads or sales.

Let us know what you focus on tracking

There are so many different social media metrics out there you could track but we believe the above three are the most important. They tell you what is working, whether your social media accounts are successful or not, and if you are growing. The rest of the numbers beyond these three should be treated as secondary.

If you would like a more detailed analysis, of course, you can look into other metrics. However, if you are a busy business owner and want to solely focus on what is most important, these are your three. We’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments below - let us know what your key metrics are or what you focus on tracking.
