Google Search Console Update

Social media posts are now search results.

Social platforms are now search results in white writing on purple background with graphic icon of a search bar with text saying search in black and a magnifying glass

Google just released a major update to Google Search Console: you can now link your social media profiles directly to your account.

For the first time, you can track how your social posts perform inside Google Search and Google Discover. In fact, you don't even need a website to use Search Console anymore.

What Does This Update Do?

Once you connect your accounts, Search Console creates a dedicated dashboard for your social content. You can see:

  • Exact Keywords: The specific Google search terms bringing people to your social posts.

  • Clicks & Impressions: How many times your TikToks or Reels showed up in Google search results and got clicked.

  • Top Performing Posts: Which individual posts bring in organic traffic from Google versus just native app traffic.

Why It Matters

  1. Social SEO is Easy to Track: You no longer have to guess if optimising your TikTok or YouTube titles helps you show up on Google.

  2. Own the Search Results: Your website page, YouTube video, and Instagram Reels can all rank for the same keyword and you can track all three in one place.

  3. Great for Social Creators: If you don't own a website or blog, you can still use Search Console to grow your social audience through Google.

Bottom Line: Social media posts are now search results. Linking your accounts to Search Console will help you see what content drives real traffic from Google so you can understand who your audience is and their user behaviour.
