How we use TikTok SEO to grow our client’s brands

At Social Directions Agency (SDA), we are constantly in search of ways to help our clients achieve their goals using social media. This means keeping our ears to the ground for all new trends, social updates, and tactics. One tactic we’ve been using for some time is TikTok SEO.

Using TikTok SEO has helped us build accounts for our clients that have 10K+ followers. Keep reading to find out how we use TikTok SEO to grow our client’s brands and how we can help your business become industry-leading on the latest trending social media platform, TikTok.

What is TikTok SEO?

Before we jump right into how we use TikTok SEO, let’s talk about what it is first. TikTok SEO is essentially about optimising your TikTok videos so they rank higher in the search engine. You may be under the impression that only Google has a search engine, and to some degree, you are correct. TikTok isn’t technically a search engine, but it does have its own search bar. This makes SEO a crucial part of the platform especially when you consider that more and more brands are jumping on TikTok.

Just as you would use analytics and keywords to optimise the content on your website, you can use the same tactics for TikTok. Google actually found that 40 per cent of youths utilise Instagram and TikTok for search. While social media posts were not previously indexed by Google, they are now showing up in SERPS! This is why we use TikTok SEO for our clients to help them grow their brands and reach their target audiences. TikTok will rank videos based on a range of factors, including the information in the video, user interactions, and the account settings and device being used.

How we use TikTok SEO at Social Directions Agency

Now that you have a better understanding of what TikTok SEO is, let’s talk about how we use it at Social Directions Agency to help our clients.

Making use of trending sounds

A TikTok video we completed for our client, the National Flight Centre (NFC) where we used the questions feature and used a trending sound in the background.

With our client, Pods4U, we help their content become more visible to their target audience by using trending sounds and songs. For example, the ‘Makeba’ song was trending for weeks on the platform, so we made sure to have it in the background of some of the Pods4U videos we created.

Incorporating on-screen video captions

A TikTok for our client, Pods4U, where we utilised on-screen text over the video.

For another one of our clients, the National Flight Centre, we’ve found using on-screen captions to be useful in driving engagement. Utilising these captions, their TikTok receive a significant number of likes, comments, saves, and shares, all of which help to boost brand awareness.

Jumping on actual TikTok trends

A TikTok we created for our client, The 1933 Furniture Company, where we jumped on this Jennifer Lawrence trend.

When it comes to TikTok SEO, keywords and what you write to accompany the video are important, but so is what is occurring in the video. This is why we’ve found it useful to jump on actual TikTok trends for our clients. For example, with our client, the 1933 Furniture Company, we hoped on trends like the ‘I wish I could get it’ child, ‘Hi Barbie, Hi Ken’, and Pedro Pascal’s mesmerising eating.

Final thoughts

As a social media marketing agency, we believe in using all resources and tactics at our disposal to help our clients shine on social media. Our team are passionate about social media and knows what works. Since TikTok launched and we have begun to move clients over to this popular platform, we’ve been harnessing the power of TikTok SEO to help them boost brand awareness, leads, and their customer base.

Implementing TikTok SEO hasn’t been very challenging for us; it’s been a matter of seeing what currently performs on the platform and mimicking this for our clients. In addition, we should pay attention to what is happening in the content and see how we can capitalise on this with keywords, describing the video, and captions. If you are ready to take your TikTok to the next level and start using the online world as a catalyst for growing your brand, get in touch with us today.
